Final Fantasy X Walkthrough
The Game Beginning
The game is a little slow to
start. You begin with Tidus, the hero, and his friends around a campfire.
They seem pretty sad. Tidus talks to "you" the player, and starts to tell
you about his history. You go back to the 'good days'. He was a huge
Blitzball (underwater soccer) star in the big city of Zanarkand. You start
with him greeting his fans. Talk to all but the 3 kids, then talk to them
last. Then you start down a street to the stadium.
You learn that Tidus' dad used to play Blitzball too, and vanished 10 years
ago. His dad's name was Jecht. You get through a few more fans, and then you
see the game in action. Lovely graphics! All is cool
until Sin attacks.

Sin Attacks
After Sin attacks the city of
Zanarkand, Tidus runs into Auron, an older friend. He follows Auron a bit,
and is frozen in time for a moment with a ghost-child, who says "it begins
... don't cry". Next, Auron gives Tidus a sword - a present from his father,
Jecht. Tidus takes the sword, and you go into your first fight.
Luckily, the first few fights are extremely easy. You simply attack whatever
the default is, and the Sinscales all die with one hit. You fight first one
sinscale, then 2, and then 3. You run past each group you slay. Then you hit
the Sinspawn Ammes. By now both characters should be ready for 'overdrive'.
This is their super attack that you get to with the left directional key.
Auron does Bushido, which requires a series of keys to be hit quickly. Make
sure you memorize the keys before trying this one. Tidus is easier - his
Spiral Cut just requires you to hit the X key at the right time. That should
be simple to do. You can kill the Amines and 5 sinscales pretty easily if
you get both. If not, be sure to use items to keep you alive. Potions heal
hit points, while Phoenix Down brings someone back to life if they go down
to zero.
After that set, there's a save globe. Hit X to use it, to save your game and
heal yourself up. Even if you don't really want to save, those globes are
good for free healing. Then there's a few more enemies, and instead of
fighting them, you hit an electric ball to the right. A few hits, it
explodes, and you're sucked into Sin. You have a few moments in a strange
land with a man/boy, and then you're in the water 1000 years into the
future.

Landing in Water
After Sin attacks you in
Zanarkand, you're alone in a little cove area. You learn how to swim around,
using the circle key to go underwater. To the right is a set of runes to
read. They say:

As you might guess, this is in another language. In fact, it's in Al Bhed,
sort of a cryptogram of English where every character (say A) is represented
by another character (like C). You're going to find primers all over that
tell you letter by letter what the conversion is. So "dra" really means
"the" and so on. It says:
In the land where bolts of light

with MACALANIA behind the fourth pillar in sight
look not on the left but on the right

All of these sayings you find
help guide you towards key items and weapons in the game. This phrase refers
to the Thunder Plains, which you'll encounter later on.
Just north is a chest with 200 gil. Now swim over to the left side. You'll
find a chest to the south with 2 potions, and an Intro to Al Bhed
Compilation Sphere. It says:
sycdran dra Al Bhed myhkiyka! Pacd uv milg!
This is really annoying when you first play, but here's what it is. Say you
play the entire game and learn the entire alphabet. Now you can start a
brand new game and get to this point. By hitting this sphere, the game will
search *all memory cards* and suck in all letters you know, even from
completely different games. That way you can go from this point forward,
read the signs, know what people are saying to you, and so on. You can even
borrow a memory card from a friend and start the game knowing the entire
alphabet. A bit bizarre, if you ask me. And very confusing for the new
player that doesn't even know about the alphabet yet. But anyway. On your
first pass through, it doesn't do anything.
Just north of this area is a save point. Be sure to save!

Flint and Tinder
When you go forward from your
first save spot in the "future", you'll get a hi potion on the left, then
fall into the water. 3 Sahagin will attack, then a Geosgaeno. Don't worry
much about it - after one hit it'll chase you and you'll be safe, although
trapped, in a circular room.
There's a save sphere in here, and a cold campfire in the middle. You want
to be warm. Go north and get some tinder from dried flowers in a wall vase.
Just past them, on the balcony, is a hi potion in a chest. Now back to the
south, in the room with the overturned table, is some flint. Go back to the
campfire and you'll start a fire.
Now you're attacked by a Klikk, but again, don't worry. A girl - Rikku -
will come with her pals. They're Al Bheds, and they'll help you out. You of
course can't understand them yet.

Learning the Spheres
After you first meet the Al
Bheds, you learn about the spheres. This is how characters in FFX advance in
level. They don't "gain levels" - instead they get spheres and sphere
levels, and use those to gain different powers. You can't just randomly
choose what you want to improve - say get more hit points, or get more
strength. Instead, you have to move a sphere along a track, and choose which
direction to go on that track. It's sort of confusing, but after some
practice it starts to make sense. In essence you can only go along that set
track, and choose to spend points on things you pass along the way.
You get spheres and sphere levels for killing enemies. You can get a power,
speed, mana, or ability sphere when a monster dies. You also get "AP" which
help you increase your sphere level. Sphere levels only help you move along
the track. That's all the do, and you must follow the track. Actual spheres
only let you activate a given point on the track that you're near. So the
whole thing involves you plodding along the track, and activating things
that are interesting as you pass them.

Turning On the Power
The Al Bhed don't want you to
just lounge around. They want you to work. Your first task is to swim
underwater and get the power going at a station down there. Before you talk
to Rikku, be sure to save at the sphere, go look at the crane in the back
left, and pick up Primer I. This gets you started on being able to
understand the Al Bhed language. Also, talk to all the guys. One will give
you 3 potions.
You talk to Rikku, the girl, and then swim in. You'll hit random piranha
along the way - they're easy to kill. Follow the rope down, when you hit the
bottom you'll go into a round room.
Go through the rooms until you hit the power generator. You'll know when you
turn it on, lights will light up. Now Boss Trog will appear. You fight him a
bit, and then learn about Trigger commands. These are special commands that
happen in special situations. For example, with Boss Trog, you first have
the opportunity to "stand by" - i.e. heal when he leaves you alone for a
moment. You use it by using the left directional arrow.
Next you get the "Pincer Attack" command - this lets you and Rikku both
attack the boss from different sides. Be sure to use Phoenix Down if he
actually manages to kill one of you. When he's dead, you leave the room from
a new hole in the side of it, near where Rikku is standing.
You swim back up, and an airship arrives. There's a save sphere nearby that
you can use if you want. You learn that you're 1,000 years in the future and
that Zanarkand is long in the past. Now Sin attacks, and you're washed
overboard!

Meeting Wakka
You're happy when you swim up
on the village of Besaid, because you meet a group of guys playing
Blitzball! This is something you can understand. This is the Besaid Auroch
team, which isn't very good. Their captain is Wakka, who you chat with. Go
around to the right of the beach to find a moon crest in a chest. To the
left are two antidotes.
Follow Wakka to the right - he'll push you over the cliff, and you'll swim
down a stream. There are various chests underwater. One with a hi potion to
the right, then one with antidote x 2 to the right. There are many piranhas
but they're easy to kill. At the end of the stream is the village of Besaid.
Wakka wants you to join his team and fight in the Spira tournament.
He'll teach you the prayer too, which you recognize as the Blitzball symbol
for victory.

The Village
The village itself is pretty
small. On the right you have a house with people, Wakka's houes, and a
fabric making building. On the left you have a store which sells potions,
phoenix downs and antidotes, and the Crusader building with Gatta and Luzzu.
You can also sleep in the crusader building, and save.
You learn from the Crusaders that Mi'ihen formed the Crusaders as Crimson
Blades 800 years ago. They fight Sin, but don't try to defeat it. When you
ask who WILL defeat Sin, they say to go ask at the temple. You can replay
tutorials at the Crusaders buildings, if you forget something in them. Be
warned, once you start one, you have to sit through the entire thing again.
Also in the crusader's room, to the right of the desk, is Primer II.
The temple is to the north. To the left and right are the prayer rooms. In
the center is the main temple with statues. You learn about the High
Summoner - summoners use aeons (GFs from previous games) to help them fight.
If you find the old guy wandering around, he'll tell you the four high
summoners are Ohalland, Gandof, Yocun and Braska.
The center north of the temple is the Cloister of Trials, which you're not
allowed to enter. Head back to Wakka (middle building on the right) and take
a nap. You'll dream about your dad, who you hate.

The Cloister of Trials
When you go back to the temple
after napping, you learn that an apprentice summoner has gone in and hasn't
come out yet. You go in to help out. Each of these Cloister of Trials is a
puzzle that involves three types of spheres - a town sphere, a glyph sphere,
and a destruction sphere.
First, touch the wall in front fo you to get started. A new glyph appears to
the east. Touch it to make it disappear and a path revealed. Go down those
stairs.
Take the glyph sphere from the far right wall and bring it down to the left.
Put it in the door, then take it out again once the door opens. Now you'll
find another recess along to the left. Put the glyph sphere in it - the wall
will slide up, taking the sphere with it. Behind there is the destruction
sphere in a little room.
Now go down the corridor to a stone pillar. Put the destruction sphere in
it. Now touch the symbols opposite the pillar, and the wall will slide up.
In that little room is the Besaid sphere. Take it. Bring the Besaid sphere
back up to the first spot where you got the glyph sphere. You just want to
put the Besaid sphere out of the way for a moment, and you can't drop it. So
stick it here.
Go back to the destruction sphere, take it, and put it into the wall where
you got the Besaid sphere from. It'll blow up the wall further along the
corridor! You get the Rod of Wisdom from a chest.
Now go back and get the Besaid sphere. Put it in the stone pillar. The wall
will open up. You can push the pillar straight forward into a little spot
set for it. If you mess up, just go stand on the glowing glyph and the
pillar will reset.
Push the Besaid-Pillar in to the center of the room. Wakka will come - he's
a Guardian - and you'll go down. You meet the other two Guardians - Lulu
(the elegant woman) and Kimahri Ronso. Then Yuna, the summoner, comes out,
having finished her trial.
When you emerge from the temple, Yuna gains the aeon Valefor, her first.
Only Yuna can use the aeons.

Leaving Besaid
After your evening talk with
Yuna, you go to sleep. You have a strange dream, and then overhear Wakka and
Lulu talking. You learn that Wakka had a little brother named Chappu. Chappu
went to fight Sin, and they believe that Sin killed Chappu. Lulu is saying
that while Tidus looks like Chappu, he can't take Chappu's place.
When you wake up, Wakka gives you the sword that was intended for Chappu.
You head out, and fight a few battles. You learn that Lulu is an elemental
magic person, and is great doing magic on magical creatures. You use
opposites, fire - ice (blizzard) and water - lightning (thunder). So when
you find a water magic creature, you use thunder on it to kill it easily.
You go up to the overlook and pray. Then as you go down the north path,
Kimahri Ronso attacks, just for fun I suppose. He then joins you. There's a
rune on the left by these pillars:
Kilika and Biknael ZoEn as one.
You now learn to use L1 as a way to switch in party members. This is pretty
good - you can switch in whoever is best for what you are fighting. Wakka is
great with aerial creatures, firing his Blitzball at them. With the Garuda
for example, Wakka will put darkness on it, and then Yuna summons Valefor to
kill it off. You also learn that the aeons heal at the save spheres.
At the beach, talk to everybody and get a lot of presents including a
summoner's ring, ether, phoenix down, 400 gil. Then you get on the boat. Be
sure to use the menu to equip your characters with the new presents.

On the Boat
When you get on the boat,
there are lots of things to do and people to talk to. Go down below decks.
You'll meet O'aka XXIII, a merchant. You can give him money if you wish.
There's a power room with Chocobo power. You find the Primer Vol III, that L
= C. In the room to the left, there is a remedy in the chest, and kick the
suitcase twice to get 2 potions. There's something secret in the back room
that you can't get to.
Back upstairs. Go in the wheelhouse in the middle to get primer V, A = E.
Talk to the people around Yuna to learn she's the daughter of a high
summoner. Then talk to Wakka. Then talk to Yuna again to learn Tidus'
father, Jecht, came to help her dad 10 years ago - when he vanished from
Tidus' life.
Now Sin attacks. Target the fin in order to drive him off - you need to use
distance attacks and magic to do so. When Sin is gone, it goes to attack
Kilika. Tidus falls over, Wakka rescues him, and you have to fight a
jellyfish before coming back on board.

Exploring Kilika
Kilika isa bit of a mess. You
start with a save globe, and then watch the sending of the ghosts of the
dead to 'Farplane'. Now you sleep automatically.
The next morning, you can roam around town. There's a shop to the south of
the village - buy up thingsand equip everybody There's a little girl in the
northwest, save her and you'll get some ether in the pub. There's also a
Primer IV in the pub by the guy. There's a chest with a potion in it in a
house to the north, too.
After you talk to Wakka, you can head into the jungle. That's up to the
west.

Kilika Jungle
Be sure to save when you're
hurt for free healing, and fight a lot to gain points. Ronso can use the
lancet to learn an enemy's abilities. That can be good. On the bridge is
Ochu, Lord of the Wood. He dies pretty easily with fire and the aeon's
blasts.
Save the luck sphere you find - it'll turn an empty node into a luck node,
but you can't then activate it with any regular spheres.
There's a run in the jungle, it says

On the stairs you get sinspawn Geneaux. Beat through the outer shell until
he comes out, then blast him. When it's dead, you learn that something was
going on between Chakku, Wakka and Lulu. Now head up to the temple.

Kilika Temple
The temple, again, is a circle
with a prayer room on the right and left. There's a save sphere here. You
talk to Dona, an arrogant summoner. Everybody but Tidus goes down into the
temple, and then Dona returns and forces Tidus to go in too.
OK, on to the sphere puzzle. Take the Kilika sphere and put it in the right
of the door. It'll catch fire. Remove it again to be able to go through. Put
the Kilika in the pedestal, and put the glyph in the previous room's
pedestal. Now touch the glyph on the wall. Put the glyph sphere in the right
wall - a door opens and you get the destruction sphere.
OK, now put the destruction sphere in the pillar in the room with the
stairs, and slide it over onto the square. Put the Kilika sphere into it,
and it'll drop down to the lower level. Put the destruction sphere in at
this point, and it blows out the wall, giving you the red armlet.
Take the Kilika sphere and go to the right of the end door, to open it. Go
in. You'll learn the aeons are the souls of still living faithful, and Yuna
gets a new aeon - Ifrit.
You head back to town, and off to Luca.

On the Boat
If you didn't get Primer V
yet, grab it in the wheelhouse. Talk to Wakka, and see the blitzball on the
deck and dream about your dad and his Jecht Shot. You take the Jecht Shot
Challenge - try to hit arrow and X whereever you see the words of your
father appearing.
Talk around to other people, and shortly you're at Luca.

Landing at Luca
You land by a save sphere.
Head west to see Maester Mika, ruler of the entire world. You find that
you're going to be against the Al Bhed Psyches for your first match.
Now you go into a gigantic tutorial about Blitzball. Don't worry, you can
replay the tutorial whenever you want at the crusader spots, and really,
it's not that bad. You can run it on auto if you don't want to interact at
all. It's always on auto on defense. And on offense you can only control the
person with the ball. So the only thing you can do is control the
ball-carrier when you're on offense, and your choices are only to dribble
(move), pass to someone else, or shoot.

The First Game
Before the first game, Yuna
says she saw Auron in town. You realize this is the same Auron you knew from
before. First, go to the opposite locker room and get the Al Bhed primer VI
(F) in a chest. You also find the Primer VII along the way. When you get to
the pub, two Rhonsos pick on Kimahri and start a fight, and Auron isn't
there. The tournament starts, and you hear that Yuna has been stolen to make
the Aurocs lose. You have to go rescue her. First, head east to the square
loop to get 1000 gil.
OK, follow the arrows back to the ship. Machines are all vulnerable to
lightning. You're fighting the Oblitzerator, ues the thunder attack on the
crane nearby 3 times to turn it on. Then it's easy to use the crane on the
Oblitzerator and kill it. Lulu lets Wakka know that Yuna is safe, and the
Aurochs win 3-2.
You also learn Yuna's uncle is an Al Bhed named Cid, that Yuna's mother is
Al Bhedian. They want you not to tell Wakka about this.

The Second Game: Luca Goers
Now you actually have to play
in the second game. It's against the Luca Goers. You should be able to get
1-1 score during the first half. Then in the second half it's no scores
until the crowd calls for Wakka, and you can keep it tied up. You go into
overtime, and the Goers tend to win instantly. Note that you CAN WIN this
game. It's just pretty hard to, and usually not worth the effort. Believe
me, you have PLENTY of time to play Blitzball later on.
Just about now, tons of monsters attack, and Auron appears. He helps you
fight, and you fight a boss together. Maester Seymour shows up and helps out
too.
Auron tells you that Sin is actually Jecht. You can roam town a little - you
can spend 2k to save a melody and 5k to save a movie at the theater, if you
want. That's a neat touch. When you're done, you are ready to go to the
temple at Djose.

Walking the Long Road
The starting road at Djose is
incredibly long, and full of monsters. You do learn you can use the square
button to scout for new Blitzball players.
There's a statue on the left, and Maechen the Scholar. There'sa note that
says: "There is a valley in a vast plain with a great thorn beside. From the
thorn cross the vale to the other side." You meet Chocobo knights. There's a
summoner on the right, Belgemie, that you can fight to learn about how aeons
work. Just time your shields and boosts to match the attack/meteor strike to
win. You get the echo ring when you win.
There's a chest to the left with remedy, and another to the right with 2000
gil. After a long trek, you finally get to a chocobo cart. You see Gata and
Luzzu, the crusaders, over on the right.
Keep going. You get some eyedrops in a chest to the right, and then hit an
Al Bhed shop. Wakka doesn't like it, but you sleep here, and there's a save
spot. You have a compilation sphere here, see the sunset, get a lock sphere,
meet Rin, and get VIII.

Fighting the Chocobo Eater
The key to fighting him is to
use dark. Just have Wakka dark him constnatly and Ifrit can meteor him. Once
you kill it off, you can now ride a chocobo if you wish. Head north to the
bridges to "Newroad" and meet Maechen & Shelinda. You find a chest with two
hi poitions, and the crusaders Gatta and Luza. You learn about Operation
Mi'ihen. You can donate 1000 for an ice lance or 100 for a scout.
Dona shows up, grumpy as usual. You can save a tthe "North End" if you want.
Head down the old road. O'aka the seller is there. At the end fo the road is
a chest with the Mars Crest.
Now head back to the Crusaders, leaving the chocobo. Talk to them. Maester
Seymour comes. You now go through the gate and see the Al Bhed and
Crusaders. You hit the Mushroom Rock Road. You find O'aka again. He's
everywhere! You go up an elevator, get a chest with 1000 gil, a guy gives
you 10 potions, and a chest has remedy. Another elevator with a chest with
hi potions, and another one with serene armlet. You're in chest heaven!
Finally you hit Luzzu and talk to him. Then go up on the big thing to the
cannons. You meet O'aka, Gatta and Maester Winoc.

Sinspawn on the Beach
OK, now the Sinspawn attacks.
Get its arms and then center. Lulu uses a water attack. Then with Seymour,
you use watera. When you get through the attack, you're left with Tidus on
the beach. You have to go around and talk to everybody including Gatta by
the back wall. A chest in the R has hi potion. Talk to Yuna and Auron. Sin
is Jecht, then see Shelinda. There'sa save spot and a chest with two phoenix
downs.
Talk to the chocobo guy, talk about Dona, then meet Miroda and Issaru. It's
time for a temple!

Djose Temple
OK, get the 2 djose spheres
and put them both in the door. It'll open and suck the 2 spheres in with it.
Head into the next room. Note the glyph on the ground. It'll light up as you
do different things, and your aim is to make it fully light up properly.
Put the 2 spheres from the left and right of this door over into the far
right area of this room. You'll see the ceiling flicker. Push the pillar
over to the right and it zaps the sphere already in the pillar into
super-life.
Put the supercharged one from the pillar to the right of the main room
(second room) door. This door will now open.
You should still have 2 normal spheres. Put these two the pillar. Use the
floor-shiny-spot to reset the pillar back to its original location. Now push
it forward, it'll float there for you. Use it to jump over the lightning.
In the next area, push the pillar in. You'll light up the central light
circle on the main floor.
Jump back. Hit the shiny spot to get your pillar back. Now take the two
normal spheres from the pillar and put them in the starting room's left and
right spots. Take the supercharged sphere from the right of the door, and
put it in the left of the door. Now the symbol is done. Stand on the symbol
and go up.
In the final room with 5 pedestals, push each of the pillars in to the wall.
The stairs will open. Now go down again and look for a glowing spot over on
the left. Touch it to get the destruction sphere. Go back up again and put
it in the middle pedestal to get the Magic Sphere.
Go up. Dona comes, and you get Ixion.

Djose Village
You can save in the village. A
chest on the left has 4,000 gil. One on the right has 4 ability spheres. To
the right of the temple is a chest with mega phoenix. Another chest on the
right has remedy.
It's time to cross the moonflow. You meet Shelinda, and a chest has 3 level
1 keys. You meet Rhonsos and in a chest is an X-potion. Another chest has 3
level 1 keys. You meet Belgemine for another contest. She tells you how to
teach abilities to your aeons. If you beat her you get 6 smoke bombs and
summoner's soul. On the left is a magic defense sphere. You run into the
forest and see the lake glowing.

Moonflow South Wharf
OK, you find a chest with 2
phoenix downs, and O'aka. You find an 'elephant' thing - go left to board
it. You see the chocobo knights and Maechen talks about shoopufs. A save
globe is there. Inside is a chest with 5000 gil and merchants. Now go south
and get on the shoopuf.
An Al Bhed steals Yuna, an extractor has her in it. Fight to get her back
again. On the other shore you can save. There's XII on the platform by the
shoopuf. To the far left is ether in a chest. You find Rikku in the next
area, with spiral eyes. You learn how to steal from treasure chests and her
overdrive is mix. For example, two bombs create a blast. In a chest is
antidote x 4. A chest on the left has mega potion.

Guado Salam
You're in Guado land. You meet
Tromell Guado, who works for Seymour Guado. You learn that Rikku can
customize equipment and sometimes can even get them a new name. You can save
in here, and a chest on the right has a mega potion.
In the manor you learn that Seymour had a human mother. You try the lower
door, and it opens. You learn that Lady Yunalesca first defeated sin.
Seymour asked Yuna to marry him.
Oaka is in the area, and a chest with 3000 gil. You meet Pah and Zazi who
are both level 1 blitzball players.
You go up to farplane, where Rikku and Aeron won't go. You see ghosts of the
past. Lord Jysal (Seymour's father) comes but you don't know why.
You go down to the left, meet Shelinda. Learn that Seymour went to Macalania
Temple. You gather everybody together and go.

Thunder Plains
This is great fun to cross,
you have to watch for the zaps. There's a save point right away, and a chest
to the left with two phoenix downs. Dodge your way across the plain, and get
to the hotel. There's a primer XIV in there. Save. You learn the will of the
father was to 'take care of' the son. Rikku is really scared of lightning.
The next morning, there's a yellow shield on the ground. An Iron Giant
fights you. Use lots of Watara. You see cactaur stones along the way, which
you'll come back for later on when you have the airship. Yuna needs to talk
under the shelter.
Eventually you get out of the plains into the forest - Macalania Wood. Tidus

Macalania Woods
Macalania Woods is sort of
annoying because it's twisty and turny and you get attacked every 3 steps.
Go into this with fairly strong characters so that the battles aren't long
and tedious.
You'll meet your old friend Barthello who talks about Dona. Wander wander
wander. You pass a lot of butterflies that you can catch. I ignore this
until much later myself, so you can come back when the encounters are very
easy.
Fight fight fight. Eventually you hit Spherimorph who you just hit with the
opposite of whatever he hits you with. Lulu's great for this.
You'll hit an Al Bhed shop with the Primer XVI outside it. Then it's on to
the Crawler attack!

Crawler Attack
There's actually two enemies
here, the Crawler and the Negator. Wipe out the Negator first, which is
pretty easy. I just use Wakka to blast him out of the picture.
OK, now to the Crawler. Those Mana Beams are nasty. However, you have lots
of "cannon fodder" - i.e. your aeons! Just watch when a mana beam is coming
and toss an aeon in its path, making sure the aeon gets its uber-attack in
first. Always go into battles like this with all of your aeons fully
charged, so that you can do this technique.
You should be able to kill him relatively easily.

Macalania Temple
Yup, it's Seymour again. Isn't
he ever going to leave you alone?? Start with Rikku - those guards have
auto-potion and can therefore really heal themselves. Rikku can steal that
so they don't. Then go in with your aeons all set to full strength and blast
away. Have Yuna and Kimarhi guard you against Seymour's counter-attacks.
Once you're all set with Seymour, you get Shiva!! You won't be able to play
blitzball now, but you'll be able to again later on.
Now on to the temple. Ice Land! Push the pedestal right and up to break the
icebergs. Smash smash. Take the glyph sphere down to the lower level. Put it
in the left. Grab the Macalania sphere and put it in the pedestal and push
right. Bridge piece #1!
OK now grab the other Macalania sphere on the right. Put it down on the
lower floor's pedestal. Bridge piece #2!
Finally get the last Macalania sphere and put it in the Glyph sphere's spot.
Bridge piece #3!!
You can also get the destruction sphere by stepping on the shiny floor spot.
Stick it on the left of the lower floor to get a Lvl 2 key sphere.

Wendigo
OK, this is one of those
fights that can be easy if you figure out what the "problem" is, and really
hard if you try to struggle along without thinking about it.
The big issue here is that the guards make Wendigo berzerk. A berzerk
Wendigo is really hard to beat. So your solution is to avoid him getting
berzerk! First off, you want to trash the guards as quickly as possible so
they stop with the berzerk-o-rama. They're not too hard.
Now, if the Wendigo is still berzerk, just cure him! Aren't you sweet, the
curer of the monsters. Now that he's normal again, blast away!

The Oasis
OK, time to start regathering
all your friends. Don't worry, just about every step you take, you'll find
another one. First it's Lulu and Auron, then Wakka and then over east is
Kimahri. Then you get Rikku and start following after her. You find various
Al Bhed potions around, but really, Rikku can steal 80 trillion of these in
a short while so they're not a big deal. There are two X-potions to the
west. When you hit the West Sanubia Desert you'll find the Mercury Crest
which is part of Rikku's special weapon. Then you'll be at the Al Bhed Home.

Al Bhed
The primer XIX is over to the
west. You're going to battle a lot as you follow Rikku through this. Your
party will split up and then rejoin again. Be sure to search around each
room for potions and spheres. Finally you'll get to the summoners, and
realize that the Al Bhed have actually been trying to save the summoners
from a needless death. There's 10k gil here for you, and then you head into
the airship.

Evrae
Talk to everyone in the ship,
including the pilot, to get headed towards Yuna. This next monster is one
that many people have trouble with. You fight him up on the top deck and you
have to alternate between going in close and staying far away. You want to
stay close as much as you can, and go into this with full charges for
everybody. You don't have Yuna (she's off about to marry Seymour) so you
can't do your normal aeon blasting. Which is probably why this is hard!
Just stay in close and blast away with the various charged blasts, and have
your people use HASTE as much as possible. When Evrae gets ready to do his
mega-breathe, pull back. Then go in close again. Rikku and her Al Bhed
potions is quite handy for healing.

Bevelle Temple
WARNING: While you CAN go back
to just about every point on the map later with the airship, for some reason
you can't seem to get back into Bevelle! So make sure you do EVERYTHING you
want to hear before you leave.
You get lots of really cool videos in here, and then you're in the temple.
It's a really cool machiney temple.
Push the pedestal to start things going. Go left and left. Grab the Bevelle
sphere and put it over on the right. Now you've opened up a new path you can
take.
Head back around and at the new intersection go north (down). Now go south
down again. Grab the Bevelle sphere. Go back up to the middle floor and head
to the third junction. Stick the sphere there. A bridge will appear!
Head back to the 2nd intersection and grab the glyph sphere. Now go across
the bridge and take the destruction sphere. Put it into the 2nd intersection
spot. Now go back upstairs.
Go to the top of the stairs and get the HP sphere.
You'll find Yuna praying, Kinoc waiting, and get Bahamut.

Seymour
Yes, Seymour is back AGAIN.
Fun fun fun.
Just save as much of your aeons as you can in the first two monsters and
save them up for Seymour. If you have trouble here, you probably haven't
learned the basic boss-killing method. This is what you do.
* Go out into random battle areas
* Have Yuna summon one of her aeons
* Have the aeon fight to build up their overdrive level
* When the aeon reaches full overdrive (is able to do an overdrive attack)
dismiss it
If you do this for all the aeons, you get every single aeon up to overdrive
level. You also get Yuna to overdrive level. So when you go into a battle,
do a REGULAR summon on your strongest aeon. Have it do its overdrive blast.
Then dismiss it! Then on Yuna's next turn, have her do her GRAND SUMMON on
that exact same aeon. It'll come onto the battlefield fully charged again,
so it gets another massive blast at the boss. Then go through the rest of
the aeons.
Make sure you have Tidus learn HASTE really quickly. Have Tidus spend his
time casting haste on everybody (starting with Yuna) so that Yuna gets lots
of attacks (i.e. the aeons all attack quickly). I like Wakka for my third
person, but that's up to you.
So in any case, have Tidus use Haste, have the aeons blast away, and win!

The Calm Lands - Entering the Plains
The road ends!! Now there are
only plains. Don't worry, everything is still pretty uni-directional so you
can't get lost. The plains are closed - only one way in, only one way out.
Maechen tells you this was once a battlefield between Bevelle and Zanarkand,
and the chasm in it was caused by Gandof. Head left to the shop and the save
sphere.
Father Zuke is there and warns you that the group has been targetted to be
killed on sight. He says you should avoid the temples.
An Al Bhed is there with a message from Cid. He says "We've gone to repair
the airship. We'll come get you when we're done. Until then keep Yuna safe
or you'll be sorry, kid". In essence you don't get the airship back until
you finish up with Lady Yunalesca at Zanarkand, when it just appears in
front of you.
Right above the store is a chest with a lvl 2 lock. Two chests to the far
southeast have 15,000 gil.
To the left of the store is Belgemire with her aeon duel. Go in with Bahamut
on overdrive and blast her. You get 30 power sphers and aeon's soul.
To the far left bottom corner is the Al Bhed primer XXIII.

The Calm Lands - Training Chocobos
Everybody loves to ride a
chocobo!! You learn how to ride chocobos in the calm lands. Note that first
you have to find a chocobo trainer. This chocobo trainer is ALWAYS somewhere
on the calm land map. You will find the trainer in one of three locations:
* By the entrance at the very top of the map, on the way to the bridge
* By the far left end of the map, to the left of the shop
* By the very bottom end of the map, up by the exit on the ledge
Whereever you find that trainer, you now must go through a training course
to learn how to ride the chocobos.
The first test is going left and right. Just keep your chocobo going
straight. Not too tough, you get an elixir.
Next is wobbly, you have to dodge things. Again, not too trickly.
Finally is the hyperdodger where you do both! It just takes a little
practice but it can be done.
Now finally the race, where you have to grab balloons and dodge the birds.
Go for balloons but don't waste too much time if you miss one. Just keep
going. Once you're set, you know how to grab chocobos!

Calm Plains - The Zoo
In the middle of the east wall
in the Calm Plains is a green spot, tucked in the wall. This is a zoo! The
owner will sell you capture blades for you to go around capturing one of
every monster in the entire game. Let's just start with the 9 in the Calm
Plains since we're here. These are:
Skoll (wolf, e)
Nebiros (wasp, e)
Flame Flan (e)
Shred (rock clam, middle)
Anacondaur (snake, sw corner)
Ogre (ogre, middle)
Coeurl (tiger, just about everywhere)
Chimera Brain (nw corner)
Malboro (nw corner)
When you get them all, a chest appears, but you can't open it yet. You need
to get the celestial mirror, which I'd advise waiting until later to track
down. When you do open it, you get Nirvana, which is Yuna's ultimate weapon
base.
You also get 60 Farplane Winds from the zoo guy - this is IMPORTANT. You can
have Rikku use them to customize one of Yuna's items to make it DEATHPROOF.
This is just about the only thing that will keep your party alive in some
areas. Be sure to make it an item you really intend for her to always use.
The zookeeper now makes a CHIMERAGEIST. This is a very nasty beast. Go into
the fight with it with everybody up to full power and ready to blast it.
It's immune to delay, sleep, silence. And to just about every elemental
attack. So let Bahamut blast it but the other GFs don't really hurt it. It
sends tons of elemental attacks at you! Have Khimari do the Mighty Guard to
keep you guys protected. Then have Yuna keep refreshing whatever guards go
down. Auron's overdrive and Tidus' are both good. If you just have Auron,
Wakka and Yuna up to refresh the guards, that combo usually works well.
When you come back later with the various monsters, you get various other
prizes for the collecting act, and new monsters to battle. Here is the prize
for completing each area. Click on an area name to learn what the monsters
in that area are.

The Calm Lands - Defender X
When you leave the Calm Lands,
you cross a bridge before going on to Mount Gagazet. The bridge of course is
guarded, and not by a troll, but by a Defender X with 64,000 hit points.
Have Auron armor break him. He's immune to delay and fear and lower
strength, but he's vulnerable to darkness so have Wakka do the dark blast on
him. Thundara works really well. Then just blast him with your aeons, each
of which should of course be supercharged before going into this. You've got
him!

Mount Gagazet - Meeting the Rhonso
After you kill the Defender X,
you cross the bridge and walk up a short path to Mount Gagazet. Here you
meet the Rhonso, who are not very friendly. They want you to leave. Talk to
everybody and save.
The two Rhonsos will attack just Kimahri. This is a KEY way for Himahri to
learn all sorts of great skills! Be sure to lancet them repeatedly and learn
everything you possibly can. After you're sure you get everything, kill them
off. It's not too hard. Then heal and save again.
Now you go through this singing bit, oooooooooooooooooo
A chest to the left has 2 mega potions. You find the grave of failed
guardians. Lovely.
Braska's sphere is to the right of the path. Another grave to the left, and
then a fork in the road. Head left. You'll meet the brother of O'aka, where
you can shop. Now head up the long trail to the Prominence.

Gagazet - Seymour Flux
Jeez, how many times are you
going to have to kill Seymour?? OK, this version has 70,000 HP. He's sort of
tough, but if you've been doing lots of fighting and
building-up-of-character along until now it should be reasonably ok.
You can have Yuna talk to him if you'd like to build up magic defense.
Really, talking isn't much good with Seymour though.
If you go into this one with all of your aeons at full charge, and Yuna at
full charge, it's a matter of blasting Seymour with each one and then moving
on to the next. Have Khimari cast his Grand Protect to keep everybody safe,
and you should be able to kill him off.
If you haven't figured out the Yuna technique yet, it is:
* Go out into random battle areas
* Have Yuna summon one of her aeons
* Have the aeon fight to build up their overdrive level
* When the aeon reaches full overdrive (is able to do an overdrive attack)

lands to reverse them. If you like Lulu, have Lulu cast bios at him

Gagazet - The Prominence
You're up at the top of the
mountain now, and you find a frozen wall with lots of people in it. There's
a spiral of blue going up from them. You find out these are the Fayth.
Tidus touches one of them and ZAP he's back in his old Zanarkand! You can
see the boat you lived on - go into the door in its side to the right. The
young boy Fayth is in there and he talks to Tidus. Now head out.
You talk about the war between Bevelle and Zanarkand, which happened after
the time that Tidus lived in. Zanarkand was doomed to destruction. The
summoners of Zanarkand put together their powers and became the Fayth, and
all began dreaming about their Zanarkand that had been destroyed. This
Zanarkand (the dream one) is the one that Tidus lived in - it was really a
dream that all of the Fayth were maintaining.
Since Tidus and his father Jecht were both touched by Sin, they are more
than just dreams. The Fayth are tired of dreaming all this time and would
like to stop dreaming. Which would mean that the 'dream Zanarkand' (i.e.
Tidus' home) would go away.
Note that some of the side passages in here get you things like a Lvl 4 Key
Sphere and a HP sphere. So be sure to explore a lot now, or to come back
later.

Gagazet - Mountain Cave
Hopefully you've taken your
time up until now, going slowly and building your characters up. Some of the
monsters in the cave are pretty nasty. For example, the Dark Flan. He's
immune to poison. Be sure to hit him with dark (Wakka) and to Armor Break
him (Auron). For the Behemoth, power break him. The Mandragora/giant plant
is vulnerable to fire. The Bashura also works with armor break.
The cave leads to the Trials of Gagazet. These trials are each in a water
area, and only Rikku, Tidus and Wakka go into these. Make sure you've gotten
these 3 characters strong enough to function as a unit! Let Tidus and Wakka
right, and have Rikku heal them up with Al Bhed potions. Also have her steal
lots of water gems from the monsters. Those are great to mix with hand
grenades to cause lots of damage.

Gagazet - The Trials of Gagazet
The Trials are in the Mountain
Cave and involve only Rikku, Tidus and Wakka. To start with, from the save
sphere you have to go left. Swim straight - if you go right at one point you
can see 2 chests but you can't get to them. You'll hit some stairs. Go up.
You'll hit a light within a spinning ball that Wakka has to hit. This is the
First Trial of Gagazet.
This is pretty easy. The thing spins with three cycles - partially shielded,
a bit shielded, and wide open. Just watch it spin and wait for the wide open
cycle to come around and hit it. You can take as long as you want. A chest
appears and you get a lvl 1 key sphere.
OK, return to save spot. Now the north path is open. Go up and left. Follow
this to the Second Trial of Gagazet. There are 3 holes that you have to have
them swim through. Of course Rikku is small and has to go through the
smallest one, and Wakka is big and has to go through the biggest one. Look
at the size of each hole and tell each person to go into the appropriate
hole. If you fail you can just try again. When you do, go back and save. Now
you can go right to the 2 chests and get a recovery ring and a return
sphere.
If you head down the first path (towards Trial 1) the area to the right is
now open and in a chest you get a Pep Talk. OK, save again at the save
sphere.
Now head north again, head left (as if you were going towards Trial 2) but
stay to the left of the passageway and go up the narrow path. You learn that
Yunalesca is waiting for you in the destroyed city of Zanarkand, and Auron
sort of taunts Yuna. There's a save globe here. SAVE!!! You're about to hit
a boss.

Gagazet - The Sanctuary Keeper
This guy comes between the
Trials of Gagazet and entering Zanarkand. He's pretty nasty, has 40,000 hit
points. Be sure to save and get all of your GFs up to full charge before you
come into this battle!
You can dark (Wakka) and armor break (Auron) him. Be sure to do both. Do NOT
poison him. Also, he does tons of 9999 cures at the beginning so have
Khimari do lots of mp sucks (lancet) on him first to bring his MP down to 0.
That helps reduce his curing frenzy, although it doesn't completely stop it.
He's immune to petrify, sleep and slow, so don't bother. Just keep
dark-blasting by Wakka (the SK will esuna to remove it) and Dispel Magic him
if he does anything else. Make sure Kihmari does Mighty Guard to protect
your units against elemental attacks, and have Tidus haste everybody -
ESPECIALLY Yuna.
Some players swear by casting REFLECT on the SK to hinder his use of CUREAGA.
If you do, he might then cast reflect on you, so be sure you can dispell his
casting, otherwise you'll have trouble casting magic on your own team.
Once his MP is mostly gone (he'll never be *completely* without magic but
he'll be very low), then have Yuna:
Bahamut - megaflare - ~13,000
Shiva - diamond dust - 9999
Ixion - thor's hammer - 9999
Valefor - Energy ray - 9999
Ifrit- HellFire - 9999
Pull each one out as soon as they do the damage - so that they stay alive in
case Yuna can build up to another GF. Even with that plan, the SK usually
drives one or two GFs right up to a second overdrive with his attacks. You
should be able to completely kill him with the GF attacks if you've been
doing the other listed actions.
Note that you now have WARP SELECTS so that you can leap around back and
forth from the plains to this point. You're about to head into the dead city
of Zanarkand - so hop back to the plains if you need to do any shopping and
to build your GFs all back up to full power!

Zanarkand - The Dead City
Warning - you're entering the
land of Super Long Videos. It can get really tedious after a while so save
often so you don't have to repeat them.
First, Tidus finds a memory sphere from Yuna. You have to listen to her
saying goodbye to everybody, how she loves them, etc. Then you run down a
path after them. Then it's the campfire scene from the opening credits. OK,
Save.
Now follow the road. There'll be a chest with a fortune sphere in it.
Another little video, then a chest on the left with a spiritual targe. You
finally hit the dome itself - save here. You meet the greeter-ghost. Go in
fighting zombies. Save inside. You see little Seymour talking to his mom. Go
left to see a video of Auron. The next room has a chest with a luck sphere.
You see another scene with Braska. Save here in the Dome Corridor.

Zanarkand - The Tetris Puzzle
Is it just me, or are the
puzzles getting easier? This one is almost too easy.
OK in the first room you are shown 5 shapes to find. They're in the bottom
middle, far right, just next to that one, and the top two in the top left.
Now 6 pillars appear.
Push in the bottom right pillar. The next room now has a puzzle for you. I
actually did right down which ones to press but it wasn't even worth it. If
you go up to the puzzle picture it'll light them up for you. Just walk
around and turn them on! Talk about easy. Do this same thing with the top
right pillar, then the bottom left pillar and the top left pillar.
Now go take the Kilika sphere in the top left by the picture and put it in
the center left pillar. Take the Besaid sphere from the top right and put it
into the center right pillar. POOF you can down go down into the middle. Be
sure to SAVE - another boss is coming! Be sure to be at full power before
you go in!
Part 2
You will come back here later on, to get the Destruction Sphere treasure in
order to get Anima. To do so, you need to light up the squares in both
rooms. There are 3 in the first room: top right, 3rd down on left, very
center. There are 4 in the second room: 2nd from top right, 4th down on
right, 3rd downin middle top, and lower of 2 in middle left. The destruction
sphere will appear in the first room. Take it into the second room, put it
to the left of the viewer, and you'll get the Magistral Rod.

Zanarkand - The Spectral Keeper
This guy comes after the
Tetris Puzzle. Don't get overly obsessed with moving around - just put your
people into a triangle formation with a space between each one. That means
he can't blast all three of you at once.
Sure, he has 52,000hp. If all your GFs are supercharged this is pretty easy.
He never cures, so just blast him with one GF after another, and he'll die!
Now you all go down for the Final Summoning, and SAVE. You go into the
Chamber of the Fayth.

Zanarkand - Lady Yunalesca
OK this is the land of SUPER
SUPER long videos and SUPER powerful bosses. Be sure to have lots of time
for this part and to be fully healed. Be SURE that Yuna has the Farplane
Wind x 60 DEATHPROOF on one of her items, and that she has the 30-Holy-Water
"Zombie Ward" as well. Both will be quite useful. Note that if you failed to
get Farplane Wind x 60 in the Calm Lands arena (or mistakenly spent some of
them without realizing you needed them) you can only get more in the Omega
Ruins. So just get the Zombie Wards, and don't worry about it. You CAN get
through here without deathproof.
Have as many ethers as possible and be SURE that Yuna knows the spell HOLY.
Go back to the calm lands store and get her to that point if you haven't got
it already.
OK, first you see the remains of Lord Zaon. There isn't really a final aeon.
Through some interminably long video sequences, you learn a number of
things. First, Lady Yunalesca will turn one of your GUARDIANS into the final
aeon, just like she did to her hubby and Braska did to Jecht. That aeon,
once sin is defeated, turns INTO Sin and starts the cycle all over again.
Lovely. You learn that Jecht did this for Braska even though Auron didn't
want them to waste their lives on it. Auron even attacked Lady Yunalesca.
Yuna finally says that this is silly - if Sin keeps coming back by using
this method, obviously it's a stupid method and she won't be part of it.
She'll find another way to fight sin without resorting to false hope. Lady
Yunalesca takes exception to this and the fight is on.
This is a three part fight, so don't burn yourself out in the beginning!
Lady Yunalesca Mark 1 is pretty easy. 24,000hp. Have Yuna HOLY her a few
times and have Bahamut do his grand attack (don't grand summon him, just
summon him normally) as the final blow. Be sure never to have an aeon attack
her when she's not near death, because she'll heal herself by sucking the
life out of the aeon. Mark 1 should die
OK, Lady Yunalesca Mark 2. 48,000hp. Nastier. She's immune to delay, dark,
silence, sleep. Let Rikku mix a water gem and key sphere lvl 1 - those are
great. Because you saved your Grand Summon from Yuna, when Yunalesca is down
below 10,000 you should be able to Grand Summon Bahamut and have him do his
ultimate attack again, killing her again.
Now you're to Lady Yunalesca Mark 3. 60,000hp. She'll go crazy doing
megadeath and lots of zombies, then cures to harm your zombie-people. First,
if Yuna has that deathproof she'll be OK so your whole party won't die.
She'll have the zombie ward too - and have her use lots of holy water curing
the others. Be very careful about healing your people - don't use a heal
when someone is a zombie!!
Have Tidus keep a haste on the party, have everybody give ethers to Yuna and
have Yuna keep blasting HOLYs at Yunalesca. Don't have her waste her MP on
life - just use Phoenix Downs. She needs all her MP to blast those HOLYs.
Finally she'll die, and she'll claim that all hope is now lost.
If you go upstairs you'll find the sun crest in a chest. Head down and out
and Auron will admit to being an unsent - Lady Yunalesca actually killed him
all those years ago. Go out and Tidus talks to dad/Sin and asks for more
time. Then the airship comes!!

Air Ship - On the Ship
This is great! Get on the
ship, talk to people, go up to the top save sphere and now you can pop back
and forth from all save spheres to the ship! You can now go anywhere you
want and roam around. Great, great fun.
Talk to Khimari at the top level. He says "Hey we should go see Mika". Go
back down to the bridge. They go "Hey that tune-thing is nifty keen." Talk
to Cid to use the NavMap and you can go whereever you want. The next spot to
go once you're bored exploring around a bit is Highbridge.

Air Ship - Highbridge
Head north from Highbridge
when you land. The guards will try to stop you, but Shelinda comes in and
lets you through. You get to go talk to Mika. He rambles on about how
hopeless everything is now. You learn that Yu Yevon is a summoner from way
back that crafts the souls of the dead into an unholy armour - i.e. Sin. Yu
Yevon hides within that armour and when it's destroyed he just uses the aeon
that destroyed it to make a new one.
Then he vanishes. Now the little boy Fayth appears and Tidus and Yuna go to
talk to him. When he asks you questions, say yes, the hymn might slow him
down. The boy warns that Sin might not be able to hear it. You then say
fighting Yu Yevon should do the trick. The boy says yes, everything will be
fine once Yu Yevon is slain. He says again that Yu Yevon was a summoner who
lives inside sin. He says the Fayth will help Yuna fight Yu Yevon.
He also says again that once Yu Yevon is dead, the Fayth will stop dreaming
and the old Zakarkand (the one Tidus lived in) will vanish forever.
They go talk to Shelinda and ask her to have everybody in Spira sing along
when the ship starts playing the melody of the Hymn of the Fayth. She
agrees.

The Gorge after the Calm Lands
I wait until when I have the
airship to do this part, so I can get lots of cash easily. The only reason
to really go into the gorge is to get the aeon Yojimbo, and he wants money.
Just after the Calm Lands is a bridge, and you can go below it into the
gorge. There's a megalixir in the chest to the right, and to the far right
is a rusty sword. When you go in, you learn that a fayth stolen from a
temple is here. A chest has a level 2 lock. Go up to the right, and there's
a monster you have to tag the right spot for a bonus prize. I usually get a
phoenix down on the top right, lunar curtain on the lower left, center for
an Elixir. I've also gotten silver hourglasses.
Anyway, go forward to get a fortune sphere in the chest. Now go up the
center for a megapotion x 2. To the left is the Al Bhed primer XXV, for O ->
Y. Save here for the Cavern of the Stolen Fayth.
You'll face Lady Gomen, who Lulu used to guard. Not very well, she's an
unsent. When you kill her (which shouldn't be tricky if you wait until after
the airship to try this) you'll get Yojimbo. You can bargain him down. He
starts out wanting 250,000. Bid 160,000 then 180,000 then 190,000 then
200,000. He'll take that.
There are warp spots to get in and out easily. You get a flexible arm to the
left and x portion X 7 to the right.

"Yojimbo has an affection rating for you, and the higher you get it, the
more often he does Zanmato. Sometimes he uses Zanmato as soon as he comes
out, without you even paying!
Basically, the way to get this rating high is to keep summoning him. Summon
him at a consistent rate, ie every 3rd battle, and the rating will go up.
Also, paying him a lot of money gets this rating up. Yojimbo on one of my
games does Zanmato for 1 gil most occasions. Even his Wakizashi does more
than 9999 damage all occasions. It just takes a little time, love and gil....

Remiem Temple
I do this after I get the
airship so it's pretty easy at this point. Go back to the Calm Lands and get
onto a chocobo, and ride it up to where you first enter the Calm Lands - to
the far bottom of the screen. There's a chocobo feather to the bottom left.
Press X on it to go off to a secret area.
To the left you'll meet a chocobo that talks about a race. You learn that
you have to go past the various chests along the way and beat the chocobo to
the center of course. Go to the right to start the race. If you beat him
into the center you get the Cloudy Mirror which you use to construct the
various Ultimate Weapons for your people. You can also hit the chests for
extra goodies if you wish.
If you enter the temple, there's a door in the back. You can't enter it
until you have the flower scepter and blossom crown. You get the blossom
crown by gathering all monsters in Mount Gagazet. The flower scepter comes
from Belgemine. You also have to have beaten every aeon UP THROUGH ANIMA
with Belgmine.
Once you've defeated anima, and you use both the scepter and crown, Yuna
goes into back area. You get the Magus Sisters aeon - Cindy. Sandy. Mindy.
You also get a defense sphere in the back room.
In the center of the temple is Belgemine. Fight her in overdrive for a
pretty easy win. Your prizes are:
valefor - lightning gem x 4
ifrit - power sphere x 4
ixion - chocobo feather x 10
shiva - mega potion x 60
bahamut - flower scepter
yojimbo - shadow gem x 8
anima - stamina spring x 60
magus sisters - shining gem x 40
When you slay her magus sisters, she says there is nothing more she can
teach you. It's time for her to go. Yuna sends her. You get the Moon Sigil.

Baaj Temple and Anima
Once you've got the airship
after Yunalesca, and can search, search for:
X (6-14) and Y (58-62)
I got mine at X: 14.25 and Y: 60.78. It might differ depending on how you
click, but it's in that general area.
First you meet Geosgaeno. He loves using stone, so be as stoneproof as you
can to get through the fight.
Then you'll get to a very special Chamber of the Fayth. This one has six
statues in it, each one standing for a particular temple. You need to have
done the special destruction sphere puzzle at each temple and gotten the
special item in order to activate each temple. You don't need to HAVE the
item now. You just need to have used the sphere to GET it.
Note that you can definitely go back to every temple but Bevelle at this
point, and you must have gotten the treasure from Bevelle to have gotten out
of it again, so you're set. YOU DO NOT NEED TO GO TO BEVELLE TO SOLVE
THIS PUZZLE.
If the temples won't let you in, be sure you've gone to Highbridge to talk
to Mika. That'll let you get into the temples. If you have the International
Version of FFX and there are Dark Aeons blocking the temples, get Yojimbo to
fight through them.
Now Seymour's mother will appear, and you'll get ANIMA. This is a HUGELY
powerful aeon that will be great in your battles!

Dark Aeons are ONLY ON THE
INTERNATIONAL VERSION of the game. If you don't have the international
version, you don't have dark aeons.
Yojimbo is great to use against the dark aeons. Usually one blast will do
them in. Also, first strike and auto haste help out a ton.

Cloudy Mirror / Celestial Mirror / Ultimate Weapons
First you get the
Cloudy Mirror by the Calm Lands, usually after getting the airship. Now
you take it back to the Macalania forest, in the lower part. There was a
woman and boy there waiting for thier husband. The hubby was a room to the
right and then up. Talk to him and he heads back to his family. Now of
course the boy is missing.
Talk to the mom and dad SEVERAL TIMES, otherwise you'll have a lady blocking
the shiny path. When they start to repeat themselves, you should be set.
Head up the shiny path and you'll find the boy up in the middle.
Show the mirror there to turn it into a Celestial Mirror. Now you have to
gather up the various ultimate weapon parts and bring them here to turn them
into a true ultimate weapon. Each weapon consists of the base weapon plus
two matching planetary pieces. A weapon won't work properly until you put
all 3 pieces together.

First you have to do some arena capturing, from the calm lands. Grab all 10
fiends right in the Calm Lands, which makes it pretty easy. A chest appears.
Grab the celestial mirror in order to open this and get Nirvana.
The moon crest is easy, it's in the water at Besaid beach!
The moon sigil is harder. You have to beat all of Belgemine's aeons over at
the Remien Temple. Once you do though, Yuna has got a great weapon!

With Tidus, you have to start with the crest and the sigil, because the guy
at the edge of the calm lands won't let you past until you have these. So
start out with the sun crest. You find this after kill Lady Yunalesca, in a
chest.
The Sun Sigil is won from the chocobo race on the calm lands. You have to
get a time of 0.0 which means you catch a ton of balloons, since they
subtract time from your score. When you do, you get the sigil.
Help Winning the Chocobo Race:
Practice, practice, practice!
Don't go for the FIRST balloon. She'll almost always get that one. Instead,
aim directly for the SECOND balloon. You should not be ahead of her to get
the rest
After you take the corner at the bottom of the ramp, stay on the right side
for safest running
If a bird is coming at you, when it's about halfway to you, push hard to the
side of the screen. It should go safely overhead.

If you go over to the guy's location IMMEDIATELY AFTER WINNING THE RACE, the
guy is still distracted by the race. So you can go down without any
interference, down the path to the northwest of the calm lands. Use the
Celestial Mirror to get the Caladbolg and Tidus is all set!
IMPORTANT NOTE: Tidus' ultimate weapon works best when he is full HP. It
does less damage when he's harmed.

Onion Knight is in the water of the Baaj temple. Just head south and you'll
find it in a chest.
The Venus Crest is at Guado Salam, near the Farplane.
For the Venus Sigil, you have to dodge 200 lightning bolts in a row, on
Thunder Plains. If you stay in abou the same spot and just jump back and
forth, that's probably the easiest way to do it. This can take a while to
do, but if you want to get this ultimate weapon, it's worth it! It must be
IN A ROW. You can't stop and save in between.

Crest, Saturn Sigil
For the spirit lance, you need spirits. If you go to the Thunder Plains and
press the square button by three of the cactaur stones, a spirit will
appear! Now go northwest of the save sphere up north, to the tower that fell
over, and you'll get the weapon by using the square button here.
The Saturn Crest is on Mount Gagazet of course, land of the Rhonsos. Just go
to the save point by where you had the fight with Seymour, and it's in the
pillars there.
The Saturn Sigil is in the Macalania Woods. You have to win the butterfly
catching game. It's not easy, but it's worth it! Here's the key to the
butterfly games (there are 2). The game doesn't care where the actual
butterfly is floating in the air. It only cares about the "ground square"
that each butterfly hovers over. That ground square does NOT CHANGE EVER. So
if you figure out a safe "path" on the ground, it will always work.

Godhand Ultimate Weapon
The Godhand part is easy once you have the airship. Put in the password
GODHAND, you land at the Mushroom Rock area, and go north. It's in a chest
there.
Mercury Crest
The Mercury Crest is easy too. You find it in the western part of the
Sanubia Desert (i.e. Bikanel Island) in a whirlpool. From the sign with the
advertisement, go up and left.
Mercury Sigil
The Mercury Sigil is nasty though. You'd expect that with the other two
being easy!! If you go into the western part of the Sanubia Desert you'll
find a sandstorm. Go south of it. You'll find the UberCactaurStone which
tells you where to find 10 other cactaur stones all throughout the lands.
You have to go to each one, catch the cactaur there, and bring its sphere
back. Told you this wasn't easy!
You have to try to catch them when they're not looking. So sneak up on them
when their backs are turned.
Also, be sure to stop in at the oasis in between each one. It's good to save
there, just in case. Some players have trouble finding Elio because they
just head right for the airship. You have to check in at the oasis first.
Click on any name to get a photo showing exactly where to find that
particular cactaur.

1)
Tomay: at the starting oasis where you land, on the right.

Rovivea: at left of Sanubia Desert East. On far left by chest and
building part. In large jut-out area.

in sink hole. he takes LONG time on turns so need to run fast the few times
you can run.

Elio: on deck of airship (very TOP deck). Note if Yuna is there, you
have to get IN sin for Yuna to leave and you'll now be able to get the
cactaur.
10) Flaile: behind the starting quest stone. I.e. when you drop off the
stone for Elio, Flaile will immediately pop out.

Masamune is pretty easy. Get the Rusty Sword from the chasm beneath the
bridge north of the calm lands. It's just to the south of where you go in.
Take it to Mushroom Rock, through the big gates. Take your second left and
stick it into the statue there. Now look at the glyph and it turns into
Masamune.
The Mars crest is just down below where you fought the Chocobo Eater on the
Mi'ihen highroad. It's down the path that you get to if you go southeast
from the big gates.
The Mars sigil is about capturing things. Capture fiends from 10 areas to
get it from the arena guy.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Auron's ultimate weapon causes the most damage when he's in
the YELLOW for health. At a strength of 167 he might do 45,000hp damage at
full health, but if you get him down into yellow health he'll do 99,999.

Air Ship - Fighting Sin's Two Fins
After the talk with Mika on
Highbridge, you can now go to the "Sin" location on the airship navigation.
Again, be sure you're fully stocked, healed and powered up before you
attempt this. Also, if you go to the foot of Mount Gagazet, you'll get to
hear the full story about the Hymn history. It first was a rebellion song
against Yevon, because Yevon actually was the one that caused all of the
trouble to start with. But then Yevon became the strong religion, and it
adopted the song as its own, and that's how it became a part of the
religion.
NOTE!! Once you start this sequence, there is a TON OF FIGHTING without any
break and without any chance to fight other 'power up' monsters to get your
aeons back into shape. So make sure you have EVERYTHING you could possibly
need and that everybody is fully charged and so on.
OK, once you get to Sin's location, go up on top of the ship. You get a
video and then begin the fight. There are two fins, each with 65,000hp. You
use Tidus or Rikku to 'move in' to attack it. You can 'move out' to get away
from his blast attack "Gravija" but usually there isn't enough time to do it
anyway, so I don't bother.
It's immune to just about every single spell you can cast, though Armor
Break does well. Wakka also does relatively well against him. Have Bahamut
attack, then grand summon him back for a second blast. Have Tidus doing his
hastes in between, Wakka wacking. Shiva going in should pretty much finish
off the first fin.
Now on to the second fin. Again, have Tidus say to Move In again. Then have
him do his haste, Wakka blast and have Yuna send in the remaining aeons to
do the blasts. A few HOLYs after that and the fin should be done.

Air Ship - Sinspawn Genais
Once the fins fall off,
there's a bit of talking, and then everybody jumps into the hole. You should
hopefully have an aeon or three left at this point. Sin has 36,000hp and
Sinspawn Genais has 20,000. The trick is that Genais absorbs any magical
attack sent at Sin. So you have to kill Genais off, and then Sin.
OK, first kill the SG. This really isn't that hard. Then you're on to Sin.
Summon whoever you have left for aeons and blast away. Have Wakka hit - he's
doing excellent damage by now - and Auron can armour break. He's immune to
dark and delay, so mostly just blast away with Wakka, Tidus and Auron. After
the previous battles, he's relatively easy. He crashes into the ground, and
SAAAAAVVVVVEEEEEE!!
Note that you CAN'T go anywhere but the final battle from here, so the most
you can do is buy some cheap supplies on the ship before heading up to the
top deck for the final battle.

Air Ship - Sin - The Mouth
At least you can save before
this point! You'd blasted Sin into the ground. But he's up again of course.
You go up onto the top deck of the ship to talk to Yuna, and she's worried
about how the Fayth will help. And then the attack comes.
Now you're going to fight with Sin's mouth, with this strange time-bar. You
have LIMITED TIME. Every round his mouth opens a little more, and if it
opens fully you die. This means your strategy is a bit different. Using
aeons is generally bad, because they get ONE attack, and then he opens his
mouth. At least with your 3 people, you get 3 attacks which usually add up
to more than a single aeon attack.
Sin has 140,000hp. So you have to do some MASSIVE attacks. Since you just
healed up if you have an uber-aeon attack ready (i.e. over 15,000hp) it
might be worth it to do that, but in general it's probably best to
concentrate on the very top attacks you have. Often this is Wakka doing a
blast, Yuna doing a Holy, and then whichever third person you have as the
most powerful at the moment. Be sure to have HASTE cast on everybody so they
go as quickly as possible, giving the most attacks possibly in between Sin's
mouth-opening.

Inside Sin: Braska's Final Aeon
OK, you're inside sin. By now
you should have a No Encounters weapon and done all of the other side quests
and ultimate weapons. So you're in really good shape and can just waltz
through this first part. Sure, you can gather monsters if you want to for
the arena. But you can stroll through the misty walkways. Eventually you
find a set of stairs.
Head up the stairs to find the final seymour ghost. He has 80,000 and is
pretty easy to kill. Just aeon him a few times - the Magus Sisters work well
for me. Then Yuna sends him. You head into a block area.
When you see glowing blocks, stand on them to do something. The first one
brings you up to a chest with four-on-one (a Wakka ball with all four
elements). The second one pushes down a wall for a defending bracer. By the
third one is a glyph on th eleft with a megalixir. Head left and save.
Now you're in the Tower of the Dead. Go up to the glyph. You're starting
with a count of zero. You have to get to a count of 10. You get there either
by fighting monsters or picking up the jewels. Walk around the edge, being
sure to move any time you see the ground turning white. This means an ice
spear is coming up. Grab 10 of the gems to be sucked out to meet Jecht.
This is "Braska's Final Aeon". Lovely rock music in the background. The
first version has 60,000hp. Tidus says "I won't lose!" and Jecht's power
decreases. You kill this one pretty easily. When you do, he yanks a sword
out of his chest. On to round 2.
In this version he has 120,000 hp and can do an ultimate attack. Be sure to
have Wakka knock out the side towers while the others (and your aeons)
hammer away at Jecht himself.

Kimahri has this skill called
"Lancet". It means he can steal special attacks from some enemies. For his
overdrive, he then can use that special attack against whoever you are
fighting. Be sure to hae Kimahri steal as many attacks as he can! You never
know when they will come in handy.

How To Do Lulu's Overdrive
Lulu's overdrive is different
from the other characters. To start with, you have to put your palm down on
the right joystick and spin it clockwise as fast as you can. The more
circles you make, the more times you do your chosen spell.
In essence you just choose whichever spell you want to use, and blast away!
The more powerful spells you learn, the better this is.

Rikku just mixes together 2
items for her overdrive. Depending on what raw materials you have available
to mix together, you can come up with some really powerful uber-attacks!! Be

Tidus's overdrive is just a
simple "press X when the line reaches the center". It's really pretty easy
and you get lots of tries before you run out of time. As you use each
overdrive more and more, you get new ones which are even more powerful.
Spiral Cut: You start with this one, it attacks just one enemy.
Slice and Dice: You hit all enemies 6 times total. You get this after doing
10 overdrive attacks.
Energy Rain: You do lots of damage to all enemies. You get this for 30
overdrive attacks.
Blitz Ace: Tons of damage to a single enemy. You get this for 50 overdrive
attacks.

You really have to like
Blitzball to get Wakka's overdrives - you win them in the games. His
overdrives are:
Element Reels: you get this to start with. Just try to get all 3 symbols to
match, like in a slot machine.

Yuna's Overdrive and Aeons
Yuna's overdrive is the Grand
Summon. This means that she can summon any aeon and that aeon is INSTANTLY
in overdrive mode. This is great for a boss battle. First, get every aeon up
to full power. You do that by going into battles with them, letting them
fight until fully charged, then dismiss them. If you do this for all of them
then each aeon can do their full blast against the boss. Now, once your most
powerul aeon has done its own blast, dismiss that aeon before it gets
killed. On Yuna's next turn, have her GRAND SUMMON that same aeon. Now the
aeon can do ANOTHER blast!

The Al Bhed primers help you understand what the Al Bhed are
saying. As you learn more letters, you'll see the "real letters" show up in
a different color. Near the end, just about the entire word will be in
English. If you get all the letters, you can then start a new game, and
"load" that knowledge from the other save file into your current game. So
you can go through the entire game now knowing what they are saying!
You don't really HAVE to know Al Bhed, it doesn't matter to winning the
game, but it's fun!

Level 3 and 4 Key Sphere Locations
Level 3 and 4 key spheres are both pretty important to
unlock some of the most powerful attacks on the sphere grid. They allow Yuna
to get to HOLY, and Lulu to get to DOUBLECAST.

* Get 1 from Lady Yunalesca in Zanarkand

How to Get Gil (Money)
The best way to get 500,000
gil each battle is to get Rikku's Godhand, Mercury crest and Mercury Sigil,
equip them and fight Mimics in Omega's dungeon. 500,000 gil and a good
amount of experiance.
They are easy to kill by summoning Yojimbo and giving him 1 gil each attack.
The worst attack I've seen him do is 5000 damage, and they shouldn't be able
to hit him.
OK, This may take awile, but by this you can get over 1,000,000 Gil in 10-15
minutes.
First you must get Don Tonberry in the Monster Arena. This can be done by
doing the following..........................
Capture 4 of each fiend in the Sunken Cave/ Chamber of the Stolen Fayth.
(THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE THE MAGIC URN!!!!!)
Now get about 70-99 phoenix downs. Then go to the monster arena and fight
Don Tonberry (the first fight is free so take it cause he normally takes
8,000 Gil to fight) Make sure someone knows steal or mug and Master theif.
If you have Tidus's Caladbolg to it's full power, then that has master theif.
now, whoever has the abilities, use steal or mug on Don Tonberry. You should
get a designer wallet. repeat this until you have stolen 4 of them.( You
should steal anywhere from 1-4)Don Tonberry's attack will probably kill you
so revive the KOed person.( DO NOT ATTACK WITH ANYBODY BUT 1 PERSON WHO HAS
STEAL AND MASTER THEIF!!!)
Now Keep doing this until you can add the ability "Gilloinare" to 1 of your
weapons. Get this with 3 of your characters. ( If Rikku's Godhand is at full
power then that weapon already has Gilloinare) Now have all 3 of them in
your party and go to Omega Ruins. Keep running into fiends until there is a
lizard and a chest. BEFORE YOU KILL THE LIZARD, use STEAL to open the chest.
it will turn into a fiend.( Sometimes the chest has a mega-potion in it) Now
kill both of them and you should receive about 400,000 Gil.

How to Get Lots of AP (Sphere levels)
This is very hard to get but
it's not inpossible first of all you need to buy ( or earn) some weapons
with 3 ability slots Then constumise that weapon with the overdrive-> ap
ability (= earn more ap instead of charging overdrives ) to have the
overdrive->ap ability u need 10 door to tommorows ( wich is not hard to get
cuz if u captuere alot of fiends ( i don know how much anymore ) then the
arena owner will give u 99 of them Next you need the triple over drive
ability ( costumise it on the same weapon ( triple overdrive : requires 30
winning formulas wich you can get by capturing 1 of each fiend for the
monster arena ( not hard but it takes some time ) So if you have captured
all fiends you get 99 winning formulas. That's not enough for all your
character but you can bribe 15 of them from the huge worm in the desert.It
will cost you arround 25 times his hp ( can't remember how much )
Now the next stap is the triple ap ability this is even
harder to get but again not inpossible you need 50 wings to discovery ( very
hard to get ) You can win 30 of them in the remiem temple race with 3 open
chests and byou can bribe 8 of them from the marlboro NOTE : beware you need
30 wings to discovery for the break hp limit ( wich is the most inportant
ability ) but you can get them easely by defeating dark aeons...
Now if you have a weapon with overdrive-> ap triple ap and
triple overdrive you can start getting ap
Now put for example Tidus' overdrive to stoic and 2 other
characters to comrade ( with the overdrive->ap ability this means if you
recieve 1 damege point you will recieve 1 ap ) Now fight the don dontberry
in the mosnter arena and use hastega then let your stoic character attack
the don tonberry. The don tonberry will counter this with his powerfull
karma ( how more fiends your character has killed in the game how more
damage points karma will do... if your attribuses are arround 100 the karma
attack will do 99.999 damge points as i told all the 3 characters will
recieve 99.999 ap BUT!!!! Next revive the character and attack him again
with the same character ( the one who has stoic ) reapeat that untill the
don tonberry has moved 4 times towars you,he will not counter wit karma
anymore... then FLEE !!
Now for example if you have attacked him 10 times this
meanes all your characters will have 10 x 99.999 ap BUT ... now it comes...cuz
the characters have the triple ap and triple overdrive ability this means 10
x 99.999 x 3 x3 = 80999190 AP !!!!!!!!! for all 3 characters
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
mayby you guys alrdy know this trick but a friend of me told
me so...
NOTE: this also works with the double overdrive or/and
double ap
then it is 99.999 x 2 x 2 x10= 3999960 ap
or with triple ap and double overdrive
then it is 99.999 x 2 x 3 x 10 = 5999940 ap
Or just the overdrive ap abilty
then it is 99.999 x 10 = 99.9990 ap
BUT it does not work when you Do not have the overdive ap ability!!!!!!
Get it???? I know It's hard but you will understand it once
So GOOD LUCK !!! I will chack this topic to s if you have any opinions about
this confused trick..
P.S. if triple... is to hard to get the double ap ability
requires 20 megalixers you recive 30 of them before the battle against
shinryu or bribe 20 of them from the varuna ( again arround 25 times his hp
and the double overdrive requires 30 underdog's secrets. you
get 99 of them if u colect all al bhed primers then talk to Rin in the
areship( he will give you them ) or bribing 15 of them from the chimera B in
al bhed home or in th airship If the al bhed home is gone the afther
defeatinh th'uban you will get 1

My Favorite Rikku Mixes
Some people have gigantic
lists of every single mix Rikku can possibly do. A mix, by the way, is what
Rikku does for her special attack. She can mix any two objects in her
inventory and create something spectacular and new.
The giant lists are pretty hard to work with, and who actually uses them
all?? Here are the ones I use a ton. Grenades and lvl 1 locks are really
common and are great bases to start with.
elixir + x-potion = megalixir (+3000hp and +200mp)
arctic wind + grenade = snow flurry
grenade + grenade = flash flood
lvl 1 key + water gem = 9999!!
